Rhino Balsa Blanks
-
All RHINO blanks are finished top and bottom to specific rocker
profiles on a plascunas shaping machine giving the shaper true
surfaces for ease of shaping.
-
Only RHINO BALSA blanks are assembled without scarfing using our innovative process of bending and chambering the wood yielding a finished board with a clean deck. Chambers are filled with EPS foam to prevent "cave-in" and "blow-up" from heat or pressure.
-
7' - 8'6" Blanks are under 6 lb. per cubic foot and are unchambered (unstringered weight).
-
9' - 12' Blanks are under 5 lb. per cubic and are unchambered (unstringered weight).
-
All blanks are stringered at customer request from Ecuadorian Cedar, which accepts resin more consistently than redwood.
The Balsa Wood
All Rhino Balsa wood is cabinet grade, kiln dried wood with the
lowest defect ratio attainable. This guarantees the highest quality
blanks available with absolutely NO PITH.
Balsa wood requires less resin and fiberglass to finish.
The final balsa board not only has characteristic riding qualities,
but is a piece of surfing history that will last for generations.
Balsa in the Water
Able to dampen vibration from chop, balsa's strength and solid
feel will always make it the superior big wave riding board and
be the choice of riders who surf less than perfect conditions.
Control and stability of a balsa wood board are unmatched.
Rain Forest Preservation
Rhino Balsa blanks are crafted of lumber from balsa plantations.
Plantation grown trees are only harvested at maturity. These trees
grow for a minimum of 4 years and must be at least 60 ft tall
and 10" in diameter. Once harvested, only the highest quality
and lightest density lumber is hand picked for ultimate use in
our blanks.
RHINO BALSA Products Have No Negative Impact on the Rain Forest.
